Less than a year after it led the Times of London to celebrate “a new sound that is both studied and inspired,” Jesca Hoop’s sophomore album, Hunting My Dress, received its anticipated American release July 27th on Vanguard Records.

With its off-kilter mixture of rootsy folk guitars, intricate vocal harmonies and avant-rock atmospherics, Hunting My Dress has earned comparisons to such musical luminaries as Kate Bush, PJ Harvey and Björk. Yet Hoop undoubtedly writes from her own unique perspective, informed by a childhood spent singing traditional songs in a Mormon family and by several years of cross-country travel with a group of Grateful Dead fans.
